The fight’s not over: keep the pressure on!

Monday’s ruling by the High Court in favor of Julian Assange means that he was given the right to request a formal appeal; there’s still no guarantee that the Court will actually hear his case. According to news sources, Assange has until December 19th to submit his appeal, and the Court has stated that it will make a decision on it before Christmas. If the Court declines to review Julian’s case, he will be extradited within 10 days.

Though Monday’s decision is a win in Assange’s fight to avoid extradition to Sweden (where he faces questioning in regard to allegations of sexual misconduct) and possible extradition to the U.S. (to face potential conspiracy and espionage charges), the battle isn’t over yet, and Julian still needs your help NOW! Supporters are urged to take at least one of the following actions in the next 10 days:

Supporters in Australia:

  • Call the Prime Minister’s office at (02) 6277 7700, or send an e-mail, and pressure her to take action on Assange’s behalf.

Supporters everywhere: 

  • Send at least one letter (draft available here) to European organizations and members of Parliament asking them to intercede for Julian.
